I was a key member of the team that launched the UNT News Twitter feed in 2009, and I have been responsible for managing the account since its launch. The page is growing rapidly, and now has nearly 5,000 followers. I also manage a personal Twitter account that I use for personal development and relationship building.
I also have been active on UNT social media team. I regularly create content for the university’s new media outlets including YouTube and Facebook. The below video is one that I shot in February 2011 that has received more than 1,000 views.
I also helped plan and implement a social media event geared toward increased audience engagement and increased awareness of the university. The project was known as Project Pterodactyl and featured a mock pterodactyl invasion on campus. The campaign included a public service announcement from UNT’s beloved mascot Scrappy, a mock news release and a list of safety tips. The project was a success with students and community members joining in to retweet and share the news of the invasion. Some students even began posting their own photos of the pterodactyls on campus to the UNT Facebook page.
